  • Diamond blades of the segmented type can be laser welded or brazed together with

    low melting point brazing material. 


    Laser welded diamond blades are assembled by melting the steel core of the blade and the
    lower part of the diamond segments to make a new tough composite material at the joint.
    This joint is very strong, certainly potentially from 50% to 100% stronger than an equivalent

    joint manufactured with brazing equipment.


    Safety is of paramount importance for the power cut off saw operator, his co-workers and
    members of the public in the general vicinity. The tougher the blade, the less likely it is to fly
    apart at high speed  when under tough cutting conditions. Diamond segments and hunks of
    diamond blades travelling at  very high speed can easily kill and maim at up to 30 metres or
    so from the saw. Anything that can be done to reduce the chance of catastrophic failure of
    the diamond blade should be done .ie stronger joints create potentially safer diamond

    blades.

    to the job at hand.
